In July 2025, Humanity Foundation distributed 120 school kits in the slum areas of Nala Sopara. Each child received books, notebooks, stationery, slippers, and a school bag. For many, it was the first time they had their own set of learning materials.
One little girl, Meera, told our volunteers, “Now I don’t have to carry my books in a plastic bag. I can walk to school with my friends proudly.” Her joy reflects what your contributions truly mean.
Our next goal is to reach 200 more children before the new school year begins — ensuring that no child is left behind simply because of poverty.
Story
In many underprivileged communities, a widow’s life often turns into one of isolation, financial hardship, and emotional struggle.
Once surrounded by family, she suddenly finds herself alone — burdened with responsibilities, judged by society, and with no stable income.
Many widows lose access to property, face social stigma, or are abandoned by relatives. With limited education and opportunities, they are forced into poverty, working as domestic helpers or surviving on minimal earnings.
To change this reality, Humanity Foundation launched the Widow Support & Empowerment Program — a lifeline that provides financial aid, food relief, vocational training, and emotional counseling.
Because every woman deserves not just survival, but the strength to rebuild her life with dignity and independence.
Challenges Widowed Women Face
Loss of income, leaving them unable to afford basic necessities.
Social stigma and isolation, especially in rural and conservative communities.
Lack of education or skills to earn a living.
No access to government schemes or proper legal assistance.
Raising children alone without financial or emotional support.
Poor health and nutrition, especially among elderly widows.
The Support They Should Receive
Every widow deserves a second chance at life, respect, and stability.
Through our program, we ensure they receive:
Monthly ration kits and financial assistance for basic survival.
Skill development and tailoring workshops to help them earn independently.
Medical check-ups and health awareness drives to support elderly widows.
Legal guidance to help them access government schemes and entitlements.
Financial Struggles They Face
For widows, managing daily life is a battle between hunger and hope.
A few hundred rupees often decide whether there will be food on the table or medicine for an illness.
Some walk miles to work for meager wages, while others depend on neighbors or kind strangers for help.
How You Can Help
Your contribution can turn grief into growth and despair into dignity.
₹1,000 supports one widow with food and essentials for a month.
₹3,000 provides skill training (tailoring, embroidery, or handicrafts).
₹5,000 funds health check-ups and support sessions for 10+ widows.
₹10,000 empowers a group of women to start a small self-help enterprise.
